Famous for
its magnificent forts and palaces, Jodhpur
is the second largest city of Rajasthan.
This bustling desert city was founded by Rao
Jodha, a chief of the Rathore clan in 1459
and is named after him. Long wall made of
stone and built about a century after the
city was founded surrounds the old city. In
the reign of Maharaja Umed Singh, Jodhpur
grew into a fine modern city. Polo has been
the traditional sport of the Jodhpur
nobility since medieval times. |
